The channel for the Google Adsense ad unit is just giving the name for the particular ad unit such that you can know the stats of that ad unit very easily in future when you need them.Though the definition of channel is so simple and easy, It plays the great role in blogging.
When you add the channel for your adsense ad unit by the time you create the ad unit, you can easily know the stats of that unit that is the page impressions, earnings and other important things regarding that adsense unit.You might be not using only one adsense unit in your blog.You might be placing maximum 3 adsense units either in the header, sidebar or in between the content of your blog.Now the need of channels occur for the different ad units to tag the stats of the different ad units.If you have used different channels for each of them them you can know the reports separately regarding their Page impressions, click,etc and you can optimize your Adsense style,unit size and placement according to that for the better adsense earning.
So how to add channels to your Google adsense ad unit.You need to add the channel to them by the time you create them.For that follow the simple steps as below.
- Sign in to your Google Adsense account.
- From the reports page Goto Adsense Setup.
- Now choose the product you want to choose which might be either Adsense for content, for Feeds, for search or for domains.
- Now I will do for adsense for content and then I choose Ad unit and continue.
- Now choose the color and size of the ad Unit according to your need and continue.
- Now Its time To add the channel for your Adsense unit.Click ad new channel and enter your channel name like Header ad, Inside post and continue to get the code.
- Now add that code to your site and start tagging stats to that ad unit.
